....hedgehog rescue......

...sometimes a little love is all that is required....
...last week i found this abandoned hedgehog in my local charity shop...
...a little shabby round the edges...
...but fundamentally all in one piece...
...and lovingly hand stitched for
somebody....
somewhere.....
some time ago....
...unable to resist a toy sob story..
she had to come home with me....
...to be squirrelled....
nothing too drastic..
..a bow of course...
..a few buttons, a furry collar...
...and a little pocket patched with love..
...i thought my work was done...
..until i found this ear-less bear
by the sea...
...how could i walk away?
...a serious cry for help
that couldn't be ignored...
...so with some words of reassurance
 from miss tiggy...
...this old sheepskin bear
awaits his makeover!

  6. OOO very sweet little Miss Tiggy... lucky girl to get a make over... I rescue breathing hedgehogs and am mighty glad I don't have to make clothing for them... No it certainly would not be British to leave a earless bear all alone by the sea!!

  15. Seriously? An ear-less bear LEFT by the sea?! Is his name Salty? His fur looks a bit crusty. He looks like he has quite a history about him ... do you suppose he used to love gardening? Or did he live in a little driftwood shack on a rocky shore? I can't wait to see how he'll be brought back to life again ... hopefully he'll get some new ears, waistcoats and breeches can always cover the balding fur. Miss Tiggy Winkle was a favourite book of mine as a child (given to me by my grandmother), so of course I love your transformed hedgehog. We don't have hedgehogs here, but we do have lots of bears! :) Wendy

  17. How sweet - especially earless Teddy...there is a whole story in that I think! I 'rescused' an tailess bunny recently and I am saving it for Bronte for Easter! My generosity is boundless....

  20. Oh that's so sweet.....funny thing is at the op shop yesterday I also found a Hedgehog, she was in good condition, I picked her up and thought about bringing her home, but decided against it. Maybe next time I'm in town, I might just see if she's still there. I love Beatrix Potter and all her characters.....
Like you I couldn't leave that sad little earless bear behind......
So nice to give them a new home and love.....
