...there's no place like home....

....all hearts go home for christmas....

.....but as you get older 'home' is not just returning to the parental nest....

.....you create your own home with your own children and family....

....but it's interesting to see how you take a little piece of those original surroundings with you....

.....and mirror them in your own way in your own home.....

.....like a comfort blanket I suppose.....

..it was so cosy and magical..

....it must take her hours and hours...

...we always get together in her grotto

before christmas to catch up..

..i look forward to it every year!

...makeover a boring old wreath!

step 1.

take a boring, tired old wreath that has hung on your front door every christmas for the past 7 years..

(and is looking a bit sorry for itself)

step 2.

make sure you only have about 5 minutes to spare so you are really under pressure

to get this project finished quickly....

step 3.

..buy a mixed bag of lovely retro decorations off ebay for tuppence ha'penny...

(LOVE these crusty snowmen!)

step 4.

...gather some bits of ribbon...

...badges and buttons...

(whatever takes your fancy)

...oh and some glue....!

step 5

....quickly throw it together...

TA DAAAA!!!

....much better!(i think?!?)

my littlest squirrel has gaffer-taped her letter to santa......

...apparently the contents are none of my business and i'll find out what she's written on christmas morning when she opens her presents....

..and of course she's quite right...

..that's magic!

...seeing the christmas tree in town lit up last night....

..and baby jesus swaddled in the conduit...

...inspired me..

to bring the magic of the outside...

...inside... 

...hurrah i've done the tree!
